If it seems like there are more multiple births nowadays, it’s because there actually are. One in 30 births in this country are twins, which is 50% more multiple births than a generation ago, mostly because of fertility drugs and advances in reproductive technologies. Betty and Eric Hayes from Morganville, New Jersey are well aware of the statistic (times three!) and have learned that, despite the old saying, things aren’t always cheaper by the dozen.

“There is a bustle of activity in our home.” -Betty Hayes

From looking alike to finishing each other’s sentences, identical twins share a bond unlike any other. Anabel Stenzel and Isabel Stenzel Byrnes are identical twins from California whose connection helped them beat the odds against illness and get a second chance at life.

“We attribute our survival to the fact that we had each other.” -Anabel Stenzel

For some couples struggling with infertility, the process of starting a family can be long and frustrating. Misty and Brian Baker from Kirkland, Washington fought to be parents unsuccessfully for 10 years, until Misty’s best friend, Amber, offered them one last chance.

“We’re closer than best friends. We’re closer than sisters.” -Amber Pluckebaum

Is there such a thing as twin-telepathy or “twintuition”? Do twins really know what the other is thinking? And how much do identical twins take advantage of their likeness? Katie puts twins Antoine and Andre Von Boozier and Kristy and Katie Barry to the test.

“We’ve done other sneaky little twin things.” -Antoine Von Boozier

Millions have followed the daily lives of the Gosselin sextuplets, the McCaughey septuplets and of course the Ocoto-mom. Mia and Rozonno McGhee have joined the club, raising Columbus, Ohio’s first set of sextuplets.

“It was scary! My husband thought he prayed too much.” -Mia McGhee

Did your mom ever say, “Don’t sit so close to the TV, you’ll go blind?” Or, “Wait thirty minutes after you eat before you get back in the pool?” Despite generations of this kind of “wisdom,” it turns out mother didn’t always know best. With the help of Meredith Dixon, a family nurse practitioner at Minute Clinic, the walk-in medical clinic inside select CVS/pharmacy stores, Katie is answering your questions about mommy myths, helping set the record straight about which ones are true, false or actually bad for your childrens’ health.

“I think you can chow down and dive in.” -Meredith Dixon
